Shirin Fathi is a photo-based artist. In 2013, she obtained a master’s degree in photography from Central Saint Martins in London. Her work has been included in numerous exhibitions and festivals internationally. Her work has also been published in various publications including the British Journal of Photography. She has been the recipient of the Flash Forward Festival award in 2015.
In her practice, she focuses on gender identity in relation to broader cultural shifts. She often uses her body and role-play in her work as she travels through ambiguous and often marginalized identities.
She is currently working on her second solo exhibition at Mohsen gallery in Tehran scheduled for this fall. In addition to her artistic practice, she has been working as an editor for Tank Magazine in London, where she was involved in the documentation and presentation of the contemporary Iranian art scene.
